About the Author
Steve Andreas has a BS in Chemistry from Caltech, and an MA in Psychology from Brandeis University. He has been learning, training, researching and developing Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) patterns for the last 28 years. He is also the author of Transforming Your Self: becoming who you want to be, and Virginia Satir: the patterns of her magic. Steve is also co-author, with his wife Connirae, of Heart of the Mind, and Change Your Mind-and Keep the Change, and they edited four classic NLP books by Richard Bandler and John Grinder, the original co-developers of NLP: Frogs into Princes, Trance-formations, Reframing, and Using Your Brain-for a CHANGE.

The El Dorado of NLP books

I've read at least 30 NLP books out there, by everyone, Bandler, Dilts, James, Faulkner, etc.... I have to say this book is the best one I've ever read... ever. Whether your new to NLP this is a fantastic starting place due to the conversational nature of this book. And if you experienced like me, its shines a whole new perspetive on NLP. I'd recommend this over every other NLP our there. Steve Andreas is a very considerate person who puts his own taste on NLP

Magnificent!

This is a really good piece of work by Steve Andreas. It's utterly amazing. It's kind of a challenging read at first though. And I do prefer the first volume over the second but the material in it is so good. I love it. It's gone so far to develop my understanding about the structure of people's internal world. How they categorize their thoughts, he explains logical levels better than from what I can tell Robert Dilts and L. Michael Hall ever have. And that's not meant to be a sleight to either one of them. They have both made important contributions to the field of NLP.

Before I read this book I thought Richard Bandler was the master of teaching about working with generalizations. I think Steve Andreas one upped him on this one. Definitely check it out! It's not always an easy read but it is definitely a rewarding read. That will pay you dividends for years to come.

Alvaro Cuervo-Cazurra is Professor of International Business and Strategy at Northeastern University's D'Amore-McKim School of Business. Finally! Someone who understands...

As a librarian (now retired), I have used Amazon for a very long time without ever having written a review. The contents of this book are worth becoming public with a review. Well written, well organized, thoughtful and packed with necessary information for those struggling with Celiac Disease, I plan to donate my copy to the public library so more people can read it. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease over 20 years ago, and, as a librarian, spent countless hours searching for the answer to why I felt so awful. Jennifer has provided a way for all Celiacs and the gluten intolerant to find the information we need within the covers of one book. She does not recommend specific brands of gluten-free food (smart!) but does recommend websites (agree with all her choices, especially Gluten Dude) and a style of cooking that Celiacs and the gluten intolerant need to follow to stay well. Jennifer is very clear about not being a doctor but also pushes the reader to keep asking questions and to keep looking for medical personnel that understand Celiac disease (took me some years as well). A tool kit for heath! Thank you Jennifer...

So grateful for this book--a MUST for all people who have celiac, who are newly diagnosed or who LOVE someone who has celiac

If I had this book when I first got diagnosed with celiac, I would have saved myself an entire year of suffering that was wasted due to misinformation, uneducated doctors and people who were not compassionate or understanding. But, no, when I was diagnosed I was given a gift of some other books on the market about celiac. I read them, and cried and cried. And now that I'm more educated, I see how those books were misguided. They were not about healing, they were not about living. They recommended things like eating corn and having dairy, all of which we now know is not the best thing for a celiac! I'm so thankful to Jennifer Esposito for sharing her story, opening her heart and teaching us all to live with this disease with love in our hearts and healing in our guts.
If you have celiac--particularly if you are newly diagnosed --please buy this book and memorize it. Parents of celiacs too! Thank you!

WISH I COULD HAVE READ THIS BOOK FIRST. MANY PEOPLE DON'T KNOW THEY HAVE IT. THEY ARE LIKE I WAS, JUST SICK AND DON'T KNOW WHY. I TESTED POSSITIVE FOR 4 DNA MARKERS ....0301 (HLA-DQ8) ...0505 (HLA-DQ2) ....0302 (HLA-DQ8) ....0301 (HLA-DQ3).
MEANS MOM AND DAD BOTH HAD IT. I WENT GLUTEN FREE JUNE 1, 2010 WHEN I WAS 74 YEARS OLD. THANK GOD I AM MUCH BETTER NOW. NO CURE, JUST DON'T EAT GLUTEN, THATS WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO. About the Author
Susan Fawcett started teaching English at Bronx Community College right after she finished college. The idea for the books grew out of her frustration that adults needed remediation but the only material available had a tone more appropriate for middle school students. She occasionally teaches a class in Miami, where she lives in the winter and writes full time.

Solid Writing Textbook

GRASSROOTS is a textbook on writing. It's written in a very easy-to-read style with some very good exercises and serves as a good tool to use when helping people improve their writing skills. I used some of the exercises from the book for my senior high school English classes.

The book is broken into nine sections: writing forceful paragraphs; writing complete sentences; using verbs effectively; joining ideas together; choosing the right noun, pronoun, adjective, adverb, or preposition; revising for consistency and parallelism; mastering mechanics; improving your spelling; and reading selections and quotation bank. Writing is a process, but one that is not easy to define. This is something that many students have difficulty understanding. However, there are similar parts of the process that most writers seem to share and GRASSROOTS does an excellent job of explaining that, starting with explaining what the purpose or writing is and why we write.

GRASSROOTS is an excellent, straight-forward textbook about writing.

Evergreen/ Grassroots, 9th Edition. Unimpressive!

I have used earlier editions of Evergreen and Grassroots extensively in my classes, but am unimpressed with the supposed improvements/changes in the 9th edition.

The small type face and rather shiny finish on the thin pages makes the text hard to read.

Much of the content is identical to older editions; in fact, I get the impression the publisher has merely revamped the book in order to publish a "new" edition for more profit.

Additionally, this text now assumes a greater ease of access to the Internet than is feasible for many students.

I particularly dislike not receiving a printed copy of the Instructor's Annotated Edition. Using it on-line is quite inconvenient.

This book is not worth the expense, especially when one considers that students can't really re-sell used books because the practices are already completed on the pages.

Very disappointing. I shall be recommending other texts for my classes. (8/20/10)

Before buying this book it said it was very good, no markings etc.,when the book arrived, the book had all the excercises done with markings in all the pages. I paid 20.00, thinking it was a great buy. i'm not pleased with the description they gave for this book.

I love this book. I first learned about it at the library and got tired of trying to use it on someone elses time table. So I bought it so I can read and study it on my own time. I have a fairly large personal library and this is perfect. I love the timelines and tables. The author did a wonderful job in illustrating and laying out the material to be easily understood. After purchasing this copy, I inherited the other books of the series. I love it!

My grandma had this book when I was a teen & I didn't value her collection of History books! Now they are worth $k$ & WERE THROWN AWAY WHEN SHE DIED! THERE IS 1 BOOK AHE HAD THAT IS ON THIS SITE 4 $1,500! She said their were riches in thos books!! How stupid we youth are about REAL treasures.
