No nonsense, no philosophical crap. Just straight forward common sensible things that really cut to the chase. Best book I've read on the process. If you can get past the spelling errors, the advice is good basic advice that you can modify to suit your personal path according to your budget.

This book was extremely helpful in my research on serial murder. It is a good, concise, rendition of research, theories, and paradigms of multiple homicide. I recommend this book to anyone writing a research paper or who wants a synopsis of major research conducted on the topic of serial murder.

Excellent book for research ! Highly recommend!!!

This book was such an enormous help to me while I gathered information for a study I am doing on serial killers. The way it is organized and divided into different types of killers was very useful and helped me get a good handle on what types of people commit serial crimes and their personal characteristics. Also helpful is the info on different theories people have had on serial murderers. I also liked that it was to the point and without a lot of unnecessary information. Well written, easy to read (and quick to read!) and full of very useful information, this book is not a sensationalist look at this subculture but a well-researched, well-balanced review of serial killers written by a psychologist with many many books to his name. Extremely helpful and very interesting indeed.

Even though there isn't any groundbreakingly new info in this book, it contains all of the research that has been done on serial killers and there is no other book that does that. It is full of really interesting information and I highly recommend it. I read it from cover to cover!

Excited about Reading!!

I would characterize this book, and others in the series, as great choices for reluctant readers (esp. boys as the market sometimes seems to inundate us with books that are geared more towards girls), because it presents like a combination chapter book-magazine-comic; and the facts/trivia and historical notes included are terrific, too! I would further note that it is great not just for reluctant readers, but for book-lovers as well: My 6-year-old son loves to read anything, including chapter books, short stories, comics, magazines.... His favorites are usually funny stories like this book! Having listened to parts of another Geronimo Stilton book, read aloud by his sister a year or two ago, I could tell he'd like them when he got to the point of reading on his own. I was right!! He laughed out loud throughout this book, and wanted to keep reading it outside of his regular 'reading time!' I cannot wait to get him more of the titles in this great series!

It's 2029, and Japan has gathered a troop of military cyborgs in Section Nine, a secret paramilitary security squad. The S-9 squad leader is the tall and sexy female cyborg Major Kusanagi, and the men under her command include the gruff Batou and the uncertain (and mostly human) rookie Togusa. Bafflingly metaphysical and utterly gripping, the book is an episodic chronicle of S-9's missions that illustrates the fluid nature of crime, espionage and geopolitical skullduggery in a world where human personality, vast data networks and cybernetic technology have essentially fused into a single social matrix. The team tracks criminals, spies and terrorists who hack networks or illegally copy the ghosts (or souls) of enslaved humans into black market cyborgs. Their ultimate case is the Puppeteer, a deadly cyberterrorist who turns out to be a ghostless, "self-aware" artificial intelligence spontaneously created out of the vast sea of networked information. Masamune's b&w drawings are dynamic and beautifully gestural; he vividly renders the awesome urban landscape of a futuristic, supertechnological Japan. This new edition restores material (including graphic sex scenes) deleted from the earlier U.S. edition.

Great artwork, good stories

The artwork is great and many of the stories I have seen in the films. Usually at the beginning of the story there are a few pages in color, but the rest is in black and white. The stories are interesting and I have had trouble putting it down. There are explanations on the pages as to what is what sometimes, plus there is a great amount of info in the back pages. Some of the words are too small for me to read and I have had to use a magnifying glass. Sometimes I get a bit confused as I am not sure in which order I should read some of the frames. It has been a long time since I read a Comic Book(graphic novel/manga) that I am thoroughly enjoying reading this one, especially since Ghost in The Shell is one of my Favorite Series/films. I thought the price was bit high, but at 350 pages it is a good value.

How Human are you?

Ghost in the Shell depicts a world very likely to come true. A world where the line between man and machine has become blurry and machines become human while men can be programed. A world of robots, cyborgs, super tech, violence and the same greed, ambition and folly of always. The story is entertaining, complex and dark. Sometimes it can be lighthearted but it is mainly dark. Because when you trade your flesh for power, what is left of YOU?
