My Interest Has Definitely Been Piqued!!!

When I first purchased this book, I was quite unsure as to what to expect, but I can honestly say that I was most pleasantly surprised. This book truly provided some wonderful insights into how and why the personality of inventors sets them apart from others. Geoffreys' made what otherwise could have been a tedious subject, entertaining and engaging by providing examples throughout the book of different ENTP figures who were easily recognizable. I found this to be quite useful as it allowed me to see how the different strengths and weaknesses revealed themselves in real people who are ENTPs as opposed to looking at it from an abstract point of view. I particularly enjoyed his list of influential ENTPs and found myself looking at these individuals from a new perspective that I otherwise may never have come to on my own. Another touch that I greatly appreciated was Geoffreys' inclusion and much appreciated introduction to MTBI Personality Types. I say it was much appreciated because it provided me with some insight to my own personality and has piqued my interest into learning more about the different types of MTBI personalities. I will definitely be picking up his other books!

When the ENTP personality type came up in my psychology class, I gave a little eye roll. Let alone having to research the topic and turn it in for a grade. This book made it interesting to learn.

1. What got you started with the Sara Winthrop Thriller Series?

I write as if I'm reading the story as I go, so I create the type of fiction that I'm drawn to. Some of the best psychological thrillers have influenced my work recently, like Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and Defending Jacob by William Landay. Those two are absolutely masterful, and I feel like I should use them as study guides.

2. Sara's Game was featured as a Kindle Daily Deal back in 2013. What was that recognition like, and how did it change your writing career?

Having Sara's Game offered as a Kindle Daily Deal literally made my career what it is today. I couldn't be more thankful to Amazon for recognizing its potential and featuring it. The access to so many readers, fans, and new friends has given me the opportunity to write full time and I wouldn't be where I am today without it.

3. You write a lot of suspense, mystery, and thriller books. What are some of the top qualities you look for in the best mystery novels?

That sense of urgency that keeps you flipping the pages long after you should've gone to bed. It's what I look for in the fiction that I read, and I absolutely try to instill that in my work. When I first began reading suspense thriller books, I cut my teeth on Dean Koontz, and for clever mysteries, it was Elmore Leonard. Two of my heroes, right there.

4. Are the titles in this thriller series chronological and what should readers expect?

Well, if a reader is looking for stunning thriller books, Sara's Game is a great place to start. You know, in the author's humble opinion, of course. With the Sara novels, readers should expect a fast-paced, heart-pounding journey throughout the whole series, and they are chronological, actually. They do work as standalone novels, but they're best read in order so that you won't miss important details from earlier parts of the story. So, they should be read like this: Sara's Game, Sara's Past, Sara's Fear, and then the companion novella, One More Game, which comes later and features a different main character than Sara herself.

5. What are some of the themes, ideas, and categories that new readers can look for in Sara's Game?

Ultimately, as one reviewer suggests, this is a novel that asks, "How far will one mother go for her children?" It's part suspense kidnapping, part psychological thriller, part puzzle, part game, and readers are encouraged to solve the clues along with Sara.

Mystery...no. Drama...yes!

First I would like to say I am in no way paid to review this novel. I'm not a friend nor a family member. I downloaded it free and have chosen to give my honest opinion.

Sara's Game is just that a game where Sara the player has to rescue her children from a menacing entity (evil human). As I read this novel, I knew who the culprit was far sooner than the author thought was possible. There were no real shocks in this story. It was very easy to figure out, but the "game" was fun watch unfold.

There are areas of suspense and you truly do feel for Sara. But the constant repeating of words was a bit unnerving...for example, stupid, stupid, stupid I got it the first time. Granted the author wanted to make you aware of the stress going on in the scene, but that was described very well through the visual.

The story is well written and the author definitely pulls the in reader in...mystery? No. Drama? Yes. would I recommend this novel to a mystery reader? NO. I would recommend it to someone who likes to cheer for the underdog. A great drama with little in the way of mystery.

Good story, too many holes

This was a fast read. The plot moved quickly with all of the action taking place in a span of just over 12 hours.

The setting was well done, and as a main character Sara was strong and well developed. The other characters needed more depth to really bring them to life--especially those who were integral to the plot, like the missing husband Brian and the villain.

My big problem with this book was the total unbelievability of how the police acted. Three kids kidnapped, the mom missing and from the way this story read it was pretty much two detectives bumbling around on their own. One of those 2 detectives was more of a caricature than a character, although I don't remember it being it mentioned I picture him wearing a rumpled trench coat, ala Colombo. DJ was better drawn; he was more believable with the right level of concern and ability to sort through what was going on--right up until the end when his actions took a turn totally at odds with any police how-to manual. It was just too weird. I kept asking myself, "where is the Amber Alert? Why are they not getting the word out that these kids are missing???"

I liked the plot idea; the "game" was well thought out and made for an interesting storyline. For me, this book would have been so much better if the police just had not been involved at all if they weren't going to be doing anything believable. More time could have been spent on the loose ends of the other characters backgrounds and less time on the totally farcical way the police handled this kidnapping. Waste of time

I am sorry I downloaded this book. The characters were not sufficiently developed. The main character lacked depth. On the plus side, if you liked the Wonder Woman TV series you will probably love this story.

As for the plot, it appears the author did very little research on police policy and procedure. Nothing about the behavior of the cops or the investigative process was even vaguely believable. I started wondering about half way through if the author even intended the book for an adult reader.

Enjoyable for niche readers

Let me start by saying that you'll probably only be able to wrap your mind around this book if you're "into" adult braces/orthodontics. And by adult, I do mean ADULT. This is a sex-oriented story about a young woman who has braces. This obviously appeals to a small niche of predominately male readers.

Like one of Aimes's other adult-themed braces books, "Love and Braces," this story goes heavy on the embarrassment of wearing braces as an adult, and how men supposedly look at an adult woman with braces as some sort of horribly (if temporarily) disfigured object of pity. The plus side of this attitude is that it allows Aimes to have the characters talk about braces and orthodontic treatment pretty extensively, rather than just narrating their thoughts. This is enjoyable - I suspect that those who are "into" adult braces are mostly starved for conversations about them - since it allows the reader to imagine himself inserted into that conversation.

"Bracing Times with Cecilia" moves quickly from a purely braces-driven story into some light sadomasochism and bondage. I thought this was nicely done, though it is pretty tame compared to some things I've seen and read on the internet. The insight into Cecilia's attraction to bondage is interesting, if a bit farfetched (hey, it's fantasy). The story eventually winds its way back to being braces-driven, as Cecilia makes some extraordinary demands on her boyfriend.

While Cecilia's braces are central to the story itself, the book doesn't focus on braces as sexualized objects. In that regard, it may somewhat disappoint people who fetishize orthodontic braces, of whom there are a surprising number. The most graphic the author gets regarding braces in a sexual fashion is Roger (Cecilia's boyfriend) mentioning he can feel sharp edges when he kisses Cecilia, and an almost offhand mention of Cecilia wearing elastic bands on her braces during oral sex. In essence, this is a sex-oriented book where the braces are part of the main character, but not at all central to the sex she has in the story.

The story's detour into Cecilia's strong interest in working in orthodontics as a career was the best part of the book to me. The author manages to touch on several things about braces through Cecilia's passion for orthodontia that really made me recognize myself in the story. It's as if Aimes was channeling some of my thoughts as she wrote, and I could look at a few passages and think, "Yes! That's exactly how I feel about it!" It's an odd feeling to recognize one's own thoughts so clearly in a work of fiction, but also very pleasant.

Lastly, much like "Love and Braces," the self-published author could use a good copy editor. There are a number of typos in the book - actually a surprising number, given its brevity - and there are a few places where the sentence structure makes things a little confusing. It's certainly not a huge distraction, but it's occasionally a bit annoying.

Overall, I enjoyed this short book a good deal. Enough, in fact, that I read it twice. I've also given it to my wife to read, not because she necessarily shares my interest, but so she can understand me a little better.

I came to writing late. The same way I seem to have come to a lot of things in life. Over the years I have worked at over forty occupations, some for a very short period of time. Recently, I spent a couple of years in the North of Australia, living and working. It is a whole different world and the people in it all have stories to tell. I became interested in Aboriginal art and the people whose lives it touches. The country talks to you if you listen and sometimes you find yourself talking back. There are special places, well off the beaten track, where people have lived for longer than civilization as we know it has existed and yet their art remains. So do the stories, the oral history and the traditions. Listen. While there is still time.

Read It! Thriller!

I tend to have obsessions about weird things and all things different. This was really good. Grabbed me right from the beginning and I really felt for the main character and actually believed in what he was doing - all the way to the end. The overview near the end of the book really nailed it for me. It was very imaginative, thorough, and thrilling all at the same time. I loved when Barbara's story was added in... genious! Keeping me on my toes and wanting to read more. The ending a bit lackluster, but a nice ride off into the sunset. I would definitely recommend this book!

A great book that manages to be smart,funny,grotesque,and addicting at the same time.It creates a main character that is both insane and likeable.A must read for people looking for something a bit different.
