A FANTASTIC RADIO FREQUENCY SYSTEM RESOURCE!!

Are you a professional electrical or computer engineer scientist in industry, academia, and government? If you are, then this book is for you. Authors John W. M. Rogers Calvin Plett and Ian Marsland, have done an outstanding job of writing a book that provides some insight into the design process for a radio front end at a higher level.

Authors Rogers, Plett and Marsland, begin by reviewing basic concepts related to BBP, including many basic performance metrics. Next, the authors investigate the basic concepts and performance metrics related to RFIC design. Then, they discuss various configurations of circuit building blocks that are used to form radios. In addition, the authors present some of the most important design considerations when specifying the requirements of all of the components in the system. They continue by showing you how to perform an analysis with a general N without details of how N is implemented; thus, analysis ia applicable both to integer-N and fractional-N synthesizers. Finally, the authors sketch out some of the requirements for a radio to be used with a 20-MHz channel in the 5-GHz band.

This most excellent book looks at a radio from a higher level in order to understand how all of the circuits operate together to provide an overall working system. Also, this great book focuses on the skills necessary to design a radio at the block level.

I am convinced that this is the reason for a very great deal of weakness and failure, spiritual limitation, and loss. While we do not want to be occupied with ourselves but with the Lord, it is very important that we should know exactly what we are and how we are constituted and what are the laws of our new life. If we get that settled as fully as possible, once and for all, we should be on the other side of a very great deal of our trouble. And so we are thus occupied not so much with the fact, as with the nature of that which is born of the Spirit.

I really love his writings

All of T. Austin Sparks books are well written, but one needs to be able to read King James English as all of his quotes are from the original King James Version of the Bible. The reader needs to be aware that he also uses words above a 5th or 6th grade reading level. All of that said he approaches many subjects from a different perspective than what we may get in our churches. I really love his writings.

About the Author
Nivaldo Tro is Professor of Chemistry at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, where he has been a faculty member since 1990.  He received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Stanford University, for work on developing and using optical techniques to study the adsorption and desorption of molecules to and from surfaces in ultrahigh vacuum. He then went on to the University of California at Berkeley, where he did post-doctoral research on ultra-fast reaction dynamics in solution.  Since coming to Westmont, Professor Tro has been awarded grants from the American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund, from Research Corporation, and from the National Science Foundation to study the dynamics of various processes occurring in thin layer films adsorbed on dielectric surfaces.   He has been honored as Westmont's outstanding teacher of the year three times and has also received the college's outstanding researcher of the year award.  Professor Tro lives in Santa Barbara with his wife, Ann, and their four children, Michael, Ali, Kyle, and Kaden. In his leisure time, Professor Tro enjoys mountain biking, surfing, reading to his children, and being outdoors with his family.

Good learning material (if you're a chemistry student), terrible price

As for the format of the book, I really like it. Maybe it's because I got the instructor's addition (yay), but I really like the exercises throughout the chapters. If I commit myself to doing the exercises after reading, I really feel like I'm absorbing the information. It's pretty easy to read for a chemistry book (although chemistry isn't *terribly* boring like other subjects), but sometimes I find the introduction of new items (e.g. atoms, compounds, ions, etc.) a bit lacking in providing a very concise description of what that item is. I suppose that's what the back of the book is for though.

Other than that, the author does seem to try to weave in some controversial political ideas, but it's not terrible. He relates it to chemistry and makes the topic easier to follow.

2 stars off for the price. This product "Is okay". Even though I got the book for a substantial discount, I still feel as though I was spending a fortune on something that won't benefit myself in the long run (life). I must say, at least I'll have it for two of my classes and not just one.

Not Tro's Best (Or anywhere close)

Easily one of the worst texts I've ever had to read.

Pros: The author is very well informed, and clearly knows the subject matter.

Cons: Incredibly expensive! PLUS most courses require WebAssign and some other materials that top off at around $500 USD at most university bookstores, and not much less even on Amazon. For that price you would expect that the text itself is superior to less expensive texts. You would be wrong. Most of my professors jump around the book (we start in with Nuclear then go to Ch 3-5). This is not usually a problem, but there are concepts that are expected to be known in the latter part of the text that you will not encounter until later in the semester (if at all). The book does assume you know some chemistry basics, and some of the people I tutored haven't had a chemistry class in over 10 years. For an INTRO to chemistry there are many other texts that do a far superior job at a fraction of the cost.

Overall: It's expensive, borderline useless if you aren't fresh out of high school or a chemistry major, and I cannot recommend buying it. If your course requires it, I am sorry. Look for the absolutely cheapest version and go with that, but expect to either need other material to better explain concepts that you're unfamiliar with, or a phenomenal professor who goes over a lot of practice problems.

"Treating Separation Anxiety in Dogs" ~ A Review

I have been thinking about how to approach this review for a while. I think the best way to do this is in two parts.

The first part is "the message" that I took away. The second part is " the actual writing" of the book. My perspective is that of an owner, not a trainer. Although, I feel this book speaks to both, equally.

"The message" that came across loud and clear to me is one of HOPE. Hope that my dog, along with thousands of others, can be worked with, helped, treated, and ultimately, overcome this horrific disorder. I don't use the word "horrific" lightly. As an owner, it is upsetting when something in your home is damaged, and sometimes very costly to repair or replace. However, for the dog, it truly is horrific; the panic the dog endures during the time the owners are out of the house is overwhelming and debilitating. Neither the dog or the owners can live without treating this disorder. This book shares the message of hope, gives owners and trainers the tools they need to combat, and ultimately conquer, Separation Anxiety.

This book is extremely well written, easily understood (even though I'm not a trainer), provides great examples on how to write up the treatment plans, and explains, in detail, the five phases of the treatment protocol.

I especially enjoyed reading the case studies. I admit, I read them first! Along with that, the photos help the text come alive. I'm a "photo junkie" and really think the photos add to the reader's understanding.

In my opinion, whether you are a dog trainer or an owner of a dog with Separation Anxiety, this book is a "must read ." If you are an owner and currently working with a trainer, reading this book would make a great addition to your program. If you are an owner and don't know where to turn, this book will give you the information you need to either start a treatment program on your own, or give you resources where you can turn for help. If you are a dog trainer, by taking on Separation Anxiety cases, you can make a HUGE difference in the lives of these dogs and their owners.

GREAT, WONDERFUL, SUPERB, EXCELLENT, SPLENDID, MAGNIFICENT, IMPRESSIVE, AND GENERALLY A HECK OF A GOOD BOOK!

Don't use it often, find it a bit difficult for many young students who have completed book 2.

I rarely use this JT's book 3, I find it a bit difficult for students who have completed book 2, but it is workable. I, many times, prefer to use JT Modern Piano Course Book one if a student has completed JT's EPC book 2 OR, if the student is able, I skip JT's EPC book 2 and go straight into Modern Piano Course book one.

I like this particular series and have already used Book One and Book Two for piano students. They like the colorful, cartoon-like creatures that point out important points. I like the choice of songs and progression of the books. This was the first Book Three I had ever ordered and it is a appropriate selection for most students who continue taking lessons. Thank you.
