About the Author
Mark DuPré has done a lot of things, and he gets tired just thinking about it sometimes. He’s been a magazine writer, editor, and industry trainer. Right now he’s a pastor, film professor, speaker, and musician. He’s motivated by a desire to help all people, especially young ones, become successful adults in every aspect of their lives. Mark has three children and an ever-growing number of grandchildren, even though he is still nineteen in his mind. He lives with his ever-patient wife, Diane, just outside of Rochester, New York.

How to Act Like a Grown-up

I read this book last night and loved it. I laughed out loud several times, and constantly thought..."Finally someone is saying this to people." If only all of society would read this book and heed its words.
My favorite chapters were about crossing the street (how many times have I waited in a line of traffic while someone strolls across the street as if they were taking a leisurely country walk!) and watching movies (loved the reference to removing crinkle paper from candy.)
Also the reference to good attendance in the chapter about college made me laugh out loud since recently a young man said the same thing to me as if it was a major ah-ha moment.... When asked about his college experience, he said he discovered the trick to doing well...and that was to attend class and take notes! And he was serious. So this book is right-on.
I plan to share this book with our two grandsons (15 and 16 years old) who are both beginning drivers. I am going to emphasize the chapter on driving, which is jammed with practical advice and insight.

A wonderful collection..

Well, you did it and you did it VERY WELL!!!!! I sat down last night and read your book cover to cover and I kept thinking this is a great source for having so much "common sense" in one place for the young. I see every day how the young think, or don't think really, and how they have no common sense yet feel like they "already know everything" there is in life. I enjoyed it very much and I actually have one person in mind that I would like to pass this book along to, so thank you for sharing and for writing it!

How to Act Like a Grown-up

How to Act Like a Grown-up was written by a dear friend of mine. He is an Associate Pastor, a teacher, and a parent who with his wife Diane have raised three of the most talented/friendly/caring children I've had the opportunity to meet. They are now all grown up, and are each married and on their way in life. Their dad is a good guy and their mom is amazing at everything she does. It didn't just happen spontaneously, there was a lot of thought,work, and prayer that went into how these kids turned out.
Fortunately, for us, Pastor Mark has invested time in creating this book that helps to fill in the gaps that might need to be addressed in a lot of my generation. It doesn't come across as "preachy", if you know what I mean. No finger wagging here. Just useful information.
He has been diligent over the years in raising his children thoughtfully, and is one of the most "present" people I know. These are not vague concepts, but important stuff that we all have to deal with at some point. It is easily read in one sitting on a quiet day.
Buy it, read it, and pass it on. You'll be glad you did.
